Step 1: Initially, open the print head cleaning utility that is installed specifically for your computer. Most of the major printer brands offer a software-based utility that printer owners can utilize to test, clean and realign the tiny inkjets the printer uses to prepare the final output.

In case there are blank spots on the paper sheet when the printer is through, there is an equal chance that some of these inkjets are clogged due to dried ink, paper dust or other debris.

Step 2: Further, you need to follow the given instructions for the program in order to clean, align and test the print head. Make sure that during this process, you must have several sheets of paper available.

This program mainly works by printing a series of horizontal and vertical lines and then prompting the user to check the quality of the print output. The process might take several passes to clean the print heads fully and completely.

Step 4: Now, lift up the printer cover in order to expose the ink cartridges. You can flip up the plastic piece covering the ink cartridges. Remember that you pull the cartridges towards you and then gently lift them up-out of the printer.

Later, you can keep the printer cartridges aside. Ensure that you are not touching the metal sensor on the bottom of the cartridge.

Step 5: Carefully check the inside of the printer, particularly the area where the print cartridges are placed. If you find any ink or paper dust around, wipe it with a slightly damp cloth or a cotton swab.

Step 6: Finally, you can turn on the printer cartridges so that the metal connector is upright. Use a cotton swab to wipe the dried ink or dust away. Do make sure that the ink cartridges have been cleaned thoroughly before inserting them back inside the printer. As you replace them, flip down the plastic cartridge cover and close the printer cover as well.
