I have connected my HP PSC 1350 printer to my laptop (Windows 8.1) via WiFi. I have also connected a scanner to my laptop. My problem is when I use the scanner from the laptop, I see this “Is the scanner turned on?” error message. I have also tried to reload the drivers but still get the same error message. I am facing this problem after updating my Windows 7 operating system to Windows 8.1 operating system. I am totally irritated due to this problem because every time I see “No compatible scanner found”. Help me to overcome this problem!
The reason for your laptop to not able to detect your HP scanner could be attributed to various factors and change in OS can be one of them. It has been brought to notice that when users like you changed the OS to Windows 8.1 or higher certain preinstalled drivers or firmware gets wiped out. I will discuss a few troubleshooting techniques to resolve the problem.
Follow them carefully:
1. Reinstall the Scanner via Windows Wizard: Your Windows OS has an inbuilt wizard for installing external peripheral devices to your computer like a printer, scanner, fax machine etc. So head over to your control panel, and look for "Add a Printer?scanner Device".
Now connect your HP scanner to your laptop with a USB cable and allow your computer to detect it. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup. Install the drivers either using the CD you got along or go to your vendor's website to download it. Install them and you will be ready to use it.
2. Update Firmware: Like Drivers, Firmware too plays a very important role in maintaining the functionalities of your printer machine. This firmware is vulnerable to getting corrupt or out-dated.
So make sure that you are using the latest available version of the software. It is important because manufacturers use these firmware updates to fix critical and non-critical issues with your printer.
3. Restore System: In case the above two methods did not help you get to a solution then it is advisable to restore your system to a time when everything was working fine. insert the OS CD and initiate the restore process. If you have created a backup you can make use of that too.
Hopefully, these mentioned steps helped you in getting to a solution for HP Laptop is not Connecting to HP Scanner, In case you have any doubts or queries regarding the same, then feel free to reply back and I will try to help you out.
